So has anyone searched for any criminals in their family yet?

I've just found out my great grandfather did two stints of hard labour for fraud and forgery, no wonder my Grandad never mentioned him and said he died in WW1, looks like he was inside for the rest of the time!

searching 'Earl' doesn't help anything.

it helps if your family has an unusual surname, which luckily my grandad did - I also kinda knew it was him as there werent that many people with the surname 'Fayrer' in the UK.

So one of my ancestors had his bike nicked in 1911 by some toerags, each of whom got four months hard labour!!

Aye it weren't like this in my day etc....
