  • fair enough...i'm all for fighting for what you believe in.unfortunately this is the Internet ,there will be no winners neither will there be deaths.

Well my bet is that most of us live in London. What with bike & boat race pics up on the forum. Maybe it isn't such a clean cut this is the internet, it's a separate entity, everyone will be safe.

ummm...i'm not quite sure of what you are getting at there...but fuck it i don't care.
    good day.

  • No, what happened is that a bunch of us told you to chill out and forget about it and you decided to call Aidan a kiddy-fiddler, which isn't partic. funny. I thought alikening it to the kind of thing a Scientologist would do might make you laugh, rather than getting even more pissed off, but there you go.

And ignore BlowieBen, if I remember right he is indeed 17 and lives in Brum and it looks like he was jumping into the conversation for shits and giggles.

  • why am i such a sucker for trolls??

i've not made any assumptions about you, and i started out being plenty diplomatic, and you just insisted on taking my advice and throwing it in my face with some undergraduate punk-lite rubbish about "i don't conform to what anyone thinks and i don't take orders from no-one".

a basic forum concept: if you want people to respect you and your opinions you have to earn it. mashton, wayne and aidan have been on this forum and around social events and rides long enough to earn that respect from other forum users. you, my friend, have not earned it.

so if you're going to behave like a rude prick that's your prerogative, but your time here will not be enjoyable for anyone.

  • I reckon singlespeed is quicker and safer for fast cornering, especially in the wet.

    2p

i don't think its quicker for cornering...if you have track cranks you can continue to peddle through the corner at a good angle without getting peddle strike.

I wasn't thinking of peddle strike but balance of your weight over the 2 wheels and keeping it constant through the turn. The simple action of pedaling can cause fluctuations which can effect the traction.

I currently have neither ss or fg. I'm converting my old hardtail to ss in the next few days. When funds are available I'll get a fixie but that don't change the laws of physics.

Corners ain't a problem as I don't live in Belgium.

Uhh, which laws of physics are you referring to? This isn't Star Trek you know - if you think that you can use some formulation of Newtonian mechanics to back up your point then please do so.

Speaking as a fixed rider who also has freewheeled bikes and a Part 1A qualification in Physics from (wait for it) Cambridge University, I think you are speaking twaddle; except in the case where the cornering speed to which you are referring sends my fixed cadence stupidly high (> 145 rpm or so, I suppose), such as in an Alpine descent. On London roads, never.

    @ Mashton

Fixed gear has both advantages and disadvantages. You don't need to have been to Cambridge to work that one out. Coasting through a corner allows for better balance on the bike with out the fluctuation caused by pedaling. If your goal is to take the corner as fast as possible then I would recommend SS over FG.

But of course you went to Cambridge and we are all beneath you.

    Fixed Gear fascists.........what cunts

So to get to the heart of the matter, the bandying of insults was started by you Torpid (just so you know your name = elitist rowing race in oxford).

Oh and btw, I don't really give a shit, I'm just bored of this D- thread and its stupid theme.

Once again if you read the thread you'll see that I dealt with Ben differently, after all he only a kid.

Aidan gave it the large and threw some banter my way. I gave some back. But I'm the criminal apparently. Several people have given abuse in this thread but I get singled out as I'm the newby who won't fall in line and surrender to their supposed superiority.

  • i'm nimhbus, and i think Turgid Constable is a cunt.

My username came from a thesaurus. I couldn't log in to my actual user account as I have already mentioned. So i just opened up the thesaurus and Torpid it was.

The aviator was an after though.

  • I'm going to follow my own advice and go do something else, this is really rather pointless.

Cheer up Torpid, Tuesday'll be sunny too and this will all be a stupid argument on the internet.

    Another presumption

    I don't recall suggesting I was miserable.

You are on a wind-up! Good one! You suckered us all in...

    Have a completely ambivalent evening!

  • Sorry for starting this thread???

  • don't be.

You can't leave the stereo types alone can you.

What makes you think I want your respect? You must have an over inflated ego to presume that everyone seeks your respect.

But riding fixed (with decent cranks) means you can pedal through corners
    = bike travelling faster.

"balance" is irrelevant - far too miniscule to factor in

    .

  • does that mean i win?

  • there will be no winners

    i'm afraid not...

Trackion and downward force over the only to things to be in contact with the ground are very important. especially the front. IF you were to apply lots of force to your peddle strokes then the load will be carried to the rear wheel. But maybe you have the front wheel as your drive wheel on your set up then of course disregard this.

  • does that mean i win?

    Ummm errr

    NO !

    oh yeah :D

h2o is right. I think I should, for my part, be the bigger man (or adolescent, or boy, whatever) and apologise.
Torpid Construct, I apologise for saying that I would insert my penis into your mouth for the sole purpose of triggering you gag reflex. Also, I apologise for the wild, outlandish claim that I healed your mother's throat illness with my penis. Also, I apologise for saying that I could cure your father's eye disease by inserting my penis into his eyesocket as I know that you may have got your hopes up for a cheap cure, but let me assure you that the claim has no medical standng whatsoever. Finally, I apologise for saying that I would engage in sexual intercourse with your cancer-ridden mother. Obviously, it could be an emotionally disturbing on her part, so for her own safety, the most I would take is a handjob, possibly with a little bit of fellatio, but not too much. I would certainly not go so far as to ejaculate onto her face or in her mouth. I hope that we can now settle this silly disagreement and that we can be friends.

  • I'm afraid your not yet of legal age for the kind of friendship i got in mind for you

  • Now thats the kind of hummer modification I could live with.

not if you where in the front seat

  • I'm 17, so we could be gay lovers if you like. I'd love to be your bitch. I'd do onything to show you how truly sorry I am.
