  • hello folks. i have been offered this bike and was wondering what other people thought about the value of it. Its a 26inch wheel fixed specific (no disc or rim brake mounts) custom built frame by dave lloyd (the cycling coach who used to be a frame builder too) for a guy called greg or gary someone who was a track rider in the 80's? anyhow, its an aluminium frame (not sure what tubing yet but might email d llyoyd next week to ask him to rack his brains), pace magnesium forks, goldtech hubs front and rear (fixed fixed), destickered rims, rear is slightly v shaped, front is normal shaped and has a braking surface (there will be a magura hydraulic rim brake fitted). seatpost is easton carbon as are the bars, stem is looong race face affair and cranks are some FSA boring mountain bike ones. i rode it and it was real nice though small but probably ok, thought that stem needs about 50mm cut off it and about 10 degrees more rise. its a shop, they want 450 for it. they already took a hundred quid off the price "cos its you". just wondered what people thought. check here for the pics....

    cheers folks.

  • link doesn't work.

  • bugger. give it some time and it should do. sorry folks.

  • whoop whoop its on now. have a loook and see what you think please.

  • I don't think it looks very nice. The down tube looks rather thick! Hubs will be good, but it's not 700c, which I'd definitely prefer for road use.

Meh, I'd spend my dollar on something else.

  • get a langster in the right size

  • I quite like it. Try and get £350 for it (always push for less), and I think it'll be an epically original bike+ fixed offroad potential....
In fact I really like it.

  • is it too small or not though?

  • The stems already far out and the saddle is really high up, don't buy it, it's too small.

  • i have just finished building something similar . . . its a pinnacle alloy/carbon (no 71 of 100 made for their team riders) frame with pace carbon forks up front, everything else race face except for the dmr hubs which i got courtesy of eeehhh . . i love it because you can charge on it and it takes a beating, though i think i will be upgrading it to 700c wheels at some point as the 26's are sluggish coming off of 700's . . its like a big boys bmx, i dont use it for getting from A to B, just for getting on when i want to go ride and let off some steam . . its away for the weekend but can post pics on tuesday . . . i think the DL would make a good addition to a quiver, but not as your one and only machine . . .

  • spec wise its an amazing price i think. the forks are mint imo, Pace are one of my fav makers making some top stuff.
I wouldn't go for it myself, cos the gearing looks way to low to be usable at any decent speeds. Only for pottering about.
All the same it is a v nice bike if you like that kinda thing.

  • Looks like a fun bike!

  • looks nice, maybe a shorter stem if it were me? how tall are you and whats the frame size??

  • appears to be a fixed wheel off-road bike, if that's what you're looking for go for it...good frame, nice hubs, low gear, but not super low like your average ssmtb....looks to be 39x14x26 to me....maybe a smaller chainring.

  • thanks for your opiniions folks. the top tube is long enough at 22 inches i think if remember rightly. the seat is a very mini 15 inches cc. (im five ten and a half) i think if i put a shorter stem on id be sat more upright and it'd be more like the fun kick about bike i wanted to build, perfect for wheelies and fooling around town on. with the seat post out that far its alright on my knees. can obvioously change the gearing to make it quicker but then im not wanting a bike to get places quick on. i was wanting a summer bike really. i have a road fixed with fenders for all weather and a big gear for speed so this is just a fun bike thouugh i'd have to sell my filmore to get it. or something else, (anyone need to buy a juicer? £150 new hardly used sell £100??). nice for your veiws. keep em coming if you have anything else.

  • a juicer you say...

  • oh yes.

and just in case you were serious, its like this one here

    http://www.ukjuicers.com/fruitandvegetablejuicers/LEquipVisorJuicerGrey.htm

    except less purple.

  • I like it, sound fun and I'm sure you can be a little bit rough whit it, for me the only problem is the dollaaaarrrrssssssss

  • dollaaaarrrrssssssss generally or this bike? i might be thinking the same. on a side note, i'm off to see ironman. i hope it doesnt suck...

  • dollars generally, if I was earning 30k per year, I will have a bike a day, sell, trade, change......
in this one, is a bit pricey, try for a bit less, £350 as someone has already tell you sound better
And at the end of the day, is up to you, how much you like it? was is your money situation? etc, etc....

  • true true, if i was earning 10k per year it wouldnt be so bad let alone 30k.. i may try for less and that might swing the vote. at my local bike shop they have a customer who buys maybe 9 bikes a year at £2000 to £3500 every year!!!! he does part ex them back hardly used, but still, thats crazy. 9 custom builds a year? how the other half live i think is the phrase..

  • what bike shop is selling it?

  • it's no looker, off road it will be o.k with suitable tyres and if theres mud room round the stays.
it looks like a nodders bike with the slicks on.

  • what bike shop is selling it?

    brick lane?

  • it's one uuuugly mutha fucka
