Wet wipes for cleaning kitchen sinks are good at removing oily grim from carpets etc. Just press the wipe down into the stain at first. Don't rub. That'll only make the problem worse. If you use lots of new wipes, one after the other, the grime will eventually start to disappear. Best to try a wipe on an inconspicuous part of the sofa first, just in case the colour runs.
