  • To correct all the odd information about Katana Frames, they are not to do with Orlowski, its a completely new brand in the U.K, although the chap responsible for building them has been doing it for years. The design is unique, not copied from anyone....ever. The price is where it is cos of the quality of the finish and the whole handbuilt malarky. They even have ti one now (for a laugh). website will be up soon for more info www.katana-frame.com.
Watch this space, all criticism greatfully recieved!

    5 years Warranty !!!!

  • Who is the frame builder? I guess that's the question.

  • Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz

  • He's a Martian, you see.

  • My anti-virus software tells me that there is a trojan java script on the katana website.
I trusted Kaspersky and didn't open it.

  • those are niiiice.
    not feeling the logo though.

Go on, tell me, what is unique about this frame design?
It looks much the same as bicycle frames have looked since about 1886.

  • yeah.. only major bit of criticism:

    CHANGE THE FUCKING LOGO.

I think it's the source of most of the hate. The frames seem to be well made, but the price requires some justification that can only come from people riding them, which isn;t going to happen very much when the bike is called Katana with the shit logo.

Why not call it Brzęczyszczykiewicz? Seriously! I'd buy it. (more than i would if it was called katana.)

  • Alex, you'ld probably buy anything called "Brzęczyszczykiewicz" if it were hipster.
I am reminded that I haven't given you your present, see you soon

  • the new mayor has a policy about logos on imported cycle frames.

    so it's cool.

  • ha dick in a box

  • chinese take-away logo
maybe hire Tony Maloney, can't get much worse

  • Birthday present? Fantastic. I can;t wait!

... I just realised boris johnson is the new mayor of london. Brilliant!

  • Szymon, I think that the decals detract from the frame, too. Quite apart from the fact that the typeface is horrible, there are just far too many of them. I mean, look at the white frame. The seatstays are the only unadorned part of it. Is there any need for such in-your-face branding?

Maybe you could have a rethink about the finish and go for something a little more understated. The frames may ride really well, but no-one will ever find out when the appearance is so off-putting.

    Best of luck.

  • Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz - are you taking the piss?

    YouTube - maul halten!

    YouTube - Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz

(for some reason those aren't embedding... anyway, Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz is a bit of a joke name because it's so hard to say/spell. As in, it's a running joke. Click the links.)

If you're this condescending to your potential customer base, why the fuck should anyone trust you or your brand?

I increasingly feel that the Katana is a joke being played at our expense.

  • good find h20... by the way, they are embedding, just wait a sec...

  • the reason i was whaling on these frames is because a. i think they look a bit nasty, and b. vinyl villain came on REALLY strong in the last thread extolling their virtues, without really having any idea what he was talking about.

  • Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz hahaha nice one. There be some Poles smirking around here now.

  • Ah, that's better.

Ha . . true i did come on strong, but thats because i have actually checked out the frames, rather than rating them on the hackney hipstometer like you have, and whilst not by any means being a frame builder i do know a thing or two about quality workmanship given that my real life job is project managing large scale engineering projects with a sideline in building custom motorcycles, where bad welds cost you your life, not just your skinny black jeans . . . from what i saw these do have a lot of quality to them. I very much doubt that unless you have significant metalworking experience that the majority of people here can actually tell if something is good enough aside from commenting on how pretty a weld is.

The main reason i was so excited is that its not every day that you bump into someone 100m from your doorstep who will build you a custom frame to your specs for 600 quid, the guy was happy to chat about all the could do, and he explained that they can do any paint job/graphics you want on them . . that and the fact that nice bikes still have the ability to turn a 30 year old into a dribbling teenager again . . and if thats a sin i'm going straight to hell.

  • Nor is it every day that some marketing person patronises me by trying to pass something off as exotic by giving it a foreign-sounding name.

Hang on a sec - that is every day. My bad.

blah blah blah... at one point i thought you were going to add to the extravagant decals with your own white flourish.

how is hell? i hear even the coffee is cold.

and the hackney hipstometer is, as far as i can tell, the most accurate way of defining workmanship, morality and anything else.
