Actually it's surprising how clean those white zaffiros stay, my front white still looks white but with a bit of a dirty centre line from London's streets.

aargh, each to their own! uglyyyyyyyyy. They are kinda charming in that plastic fantastic way, like the whole thing was dipped in some plastic.
d0ca, wild guess (no sarcasm implied) but i this Hassan who works in Cavendish? And is that his Flouro Bridgestone? That bike is hot!

No ! The DQM/trackstar bike are all normal size (you are looking at 700c wheels there).
Check out the middle picture with a leg for size reference.

Is this turning into the bike porn thread?!
And I'm sorry to say that that bottom one is actually pretty hot.

The bar and stem make me wanna vomit blood..
-
• #37
easy hippy, i just like the frame. the setup is lame
-
• #38
i like the set up and the frame. what of it.
-
• #39
nah imagine that with some open pros, decent stem (i.e. not an njs pro) and some drops - then it would fly! traditionalist i guess... Although not knocking the setup really, each to their own!

I stacked it too! In exactly the same place i crashed my bareknuckle (high holborn).
it was completely stupid. Fairly heavy traffic, i was coming up to a bus on the left side. Ahead was blocked so I stupidly lock up my legs and try and 'skid' around to the right of the bus, resulting in my falling down. pure comedy.
ha! :p

I love these hip hop slave bikes (as long as they don't do the deep drop stem with risers which is just stupid). I just can't afford one and I would find it a bit impractical as my main commuting bike and unfortunately space has run out.
They are pure max power rude boy cars of the bike world completely stupid but I still love 'em.

looking at those trackstar bikes, now i know where i got my inspiration for my new build :D

Indeed you can:
Where are those pink ones from? I've got a mate (honest!) looking for a pair of pink tyres.
-
• #46
Try tyres with grippy tread ... call me old fashioned ...
-
• #47
Tread does not make a difference on a bike on a metaled road.

Kam, I was getting same prob as you as well as about 3 punctures a week on my slick continentals, so changed to some Bontrager Hard Case 700x23 which have the kevlar beading (2 months so far no flats) as well as a strip down each side of the centre with a slight grip to it, leaving the centre slick. I run these at 120psi and have had no traction problems even on the slick and shiny cobbles of Vic Park. Also the gripped stripes are a subtle grey which matches my bike = bonus!

seriously!? wtf I had no idea. But surely if you have gaps (tread) then you've got somewhere for water to leave the contact area with the road...

Yep it's all to do with the speed and pressure (down to your weight and the contact patch) at which aquaplaning happens, we just can't get fast enough! We are accustomed to needed thread on a car but the mechanics is different. Sheldon has a little article on the subject http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tires.html#traction
Also wikipedia has this little bit. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydroplaning_(road_vehicle)
"The likelihood of hydroplaning increases with the speed of the vehicle and the depth of the water. Tread wear and underinflation also increase the risk for hydroplaning, as do wider tires. Narrower tires are less vulnerable to hydroplaning because the vehicle weight is distributed over a smaller rubber contact patch, resulting in a greater ability for the tires to press water to the sides, allowing tire contact with pavement.Bicycles, motorcycles, and similar vehicles with a round-shaped surface toward the pavement are far less likely to hydroplane in normal road use. The contact area with the road is a canoe-shaped patch that effectively squeezes water out of the way. However, because road friction is reduced in wet conditions, the lateral force that the tires can accommodate before sliding is greatly diminished."
yikes! hassanr has a flouro yellow bike but i know what paintjob i want now!!
