  • Slack journalism again 'cyclist collided with dumper truck'

Was mentioned the other day in another post. Cyclists don't collide with lorries, they get killed by careless drivers

  • bbc usually respond to that kind of complaint if you send it to them

  • i think some stupid cyclists do actually collide with lorries.

I watched a guy sail through RLs in Belgravia this morning, thankfully his guardian angel was watching too cause I was holding my breath.....a bus missed him by very little, and the poor bus driver* was beside himself.

Be sensible-ish people, I don't wanna see no bodies under wheels when I'm riding thanks.

*he was atually doing a stirling job at the time of this incident.

I would agree, some cyclists are incredibly stupid - I watched a dude on some carbon Pinarello (as Carlos would say 'it looks like it wants to be on MTV') scooch slowly down the 12inch gap between the leftside of a coach and the kerb at some lights (no cycle lane either). Lights changed and I was very grateful to the coach driver for looking in his mirror, and remaining stationary a good 10 seconds longer than he would have needed to had that utter prat not squeezed through such a silly and dangerous space.

I know you could say 'well the coach driver should be looking in his mirror anyway', but the gap was so tiny and some cyclists really put themselves in unneccesary peril - it's not always about 'careless drivers'.

    when this isn't:

it seems as if these events happening in london is just another day in the life kind of event.

I don't think it's a conspiracy. Edinburgh's tiny compared to London, so on any given day, there are far less stories to choose from where some poor soul has come a cropper.
