don't do a phd.
unless you want to spend the rest of your life wondering why you did one, as science isn't as cool as you think it is. and the people in the lab aren't that much fun. and then you realise, fuck i tried a post doc and never really wanted to be a PI. and then you realise you're 31. and your peers are doing much better than you. and they left university 10 years ago.......
