Chains and clear-coat

Posted on
  • Not clear-coating my chain, mind... Just 2 questions:

I need a chain for my ongoing project and was wondering if anyone could recommend something other than the izumi that is recomended in all the threads i found in the search. Seems a bit steep for my jock approach to money and it seems to be said to be a bit noisy. Is there a half-way between that and the 5 quid e-bay jobs?

And is clearcoat just another name for clear spray laquer that i can buy in halfords or is it something totally different? I stripped some decals off my carbon forks so they need a bit of a touch-up.

    Cheers,

    B.

  • a track chain is a just chain, i have used many chains, and they are all the same.

  • KMC for chains.

  • Yep, KMC are good chains. You can get them from Kiwi Cycles for a tenner:

  • hkk chains

  • Unless your going to the olympics a chain is a chain really.

    KMC 410 good and cheap
KMC 510 strong and under a tenner

    I'm assuming your after a 1 1/8th chain?

  • cheers, a KMC will do nicely.

  • If you're after a 3/32 chain, I like the cheapo SRAM chains. PC48 and PC58.

  • Another vote for the KMC chains. I use Z510's (3/32) and they seem pretty quiet when you get them set up right. cheap!

  • KMC on one bike, MICHE pista on the other. Both about 8 euros (6 pounds?)
