OK. First of all you need a googlemail account.

Sign in, then search for Ldnfgss.

Then go to my maps. It appears in 'created by others'.

I tried clicking 'collaborate', but a box appeared and i didn't bother reading it, just clicked 'ok'.

Then i noticed the edit button, to the right of collaborate. Click that and it opens up an options menu that allows you to add placemarks.

Once you're finished, click 'done'.

Brilliant ! It works !!!

There are just the two of us there right now.

The collaborate button is just the settings - you can ignore it and just hit the edit button to get the little icons up (top left) to stick a pin in your crib.
