You two ( smallbrownbike and your self ) are just too bloody good. thank you for the offer sheep.

you don't really need an angle grinder for brase-ons.
in fact, a hacksaw is more than adequate.

true. but it's easier, and more fun.

• #5
You only really need it to remove cranks

Braise = cooking
Brace = support or pair
Brase = who knows
*Braze *= joining bits of metal -

so courtesy of 50:14, we have an angle grinder at our yard for a couple of weeks. if anyone has any braise ons they want shifting, you're welcome to come round... i'd say sunday mornings at the tool workshop (http://www.londonfgss.com/thread4716.html) would be best, but loud noises + sunday mornings = angry neighbours, so it might be best to hit us up another time.
we're in dalston by the way....
ps: it's up to you if you're going to ruin a really nice classic frame, but don't expect us to make you a cup of tea while you do it.
where abouts is darlston... i got some cable guides i really need to get rid of...

E8 2EB, googlemap it. straight up the A10. bit of a mission from round putney ways but if you head along the river it's a nice ride....

how did you know i was from putney ways? think i could blow torch em off?
there pretty far away from any welds.. but still i don’t want to melt a whole through the tube...

the only thing better for a metal structure then pointlessly taking a saw or grinding wheel to it is to get it really hot.

in the names & faces thread you say that we might see you riding round putney on your newish bike?
anyways, as pointed out above, using an angle grinder isn't really necessary, a hacksaw will do the job. so, a blow torch should not go anywhere near your frame. uh uh. don't do it. hacksaw then file it down with a hand file will work just fine, angle grinding is just the lazy way of doing it.

or
JUST DONT DO IT... unless you are getting track ends put on it, and sending it for a respray why are you bothering?
-
• #16
well i took the cable guides running along the top of the top tube on one of my bikes today. i couldn't be arsed with a top tube protector, but they kept on catching on my trousers and it wouldn't be the 1st time i've ripped a pair on cable guides.....
it's one of the mass produced purgeots from the 80s so ifffffff any puppies died they were probably ugly ones, not a cute one.
but then, i don't care either. my bike, i'll do what i want with it.

fair play it was causing a problem, but i dont see most of them doing this, and dont see it as worth it... your bike do as you will.
the puppie thing is (mostly) a joke. any this one was probably french and they all suck any ways (wanna fight you cheese eating surrender monkeys?) so who cares

putney- dalston isn't that far.
Also I think lukeyb's bike is a fillmore, so removal is fine. -
