  • Got an old Tsunoda road bike off my mate about two weeks ago, has been passed on many times. I've never heard of Tsunoda before, the frame is a 58, called a Grand-Prix. Anyway....heres some pictures. It's a work in progress, i'm leaving the braze-ons on for the time being, might get them off sometime in the future if I get the frame powdercoated. I'm currently waiting on a pair of white machined deep v's.

  • why is that man not wearing goggles?

  • because he has large parts of his brain missing....I had gone to try and find a chain breaker and came back to find him grinding it off.

  • is that ASM with the grinder? or a mechanic at BLB? (please don't sue)

  • paint job looks nice :)

  • dead puppies everywhere.

  • could be related to this:

also built lotus bikes. seems to be top line. Tange tubing.

  • Looks goode.

ah thanks for that haven't seen that before. Most of the things I found on google were about them recalling a recent folding bike. That didn't really fill me with confidence but my frame seems ok. It's going to be a beater anyways so...

also was going to splash out on a brooks saddle but found that charge dirt saddle which was quite cheap so i'm going to use that for the time being.

Word. Becearful with grinders and saws. I've set myself on fire a few times (all be it with a bigger grinder than that), my dad has had to have lots of operation on his right eye after an accident with a circular saw and now has limited vission in that eye, my uncle has cut off part of his finger. Stay safe out there.

Saying all this I am not very good with h&s.

  • get the hoover out man!! before you start taking photo's :p

was this before or after the pig incident? I'm doing a study on how pig love juice affects the inflammability of humans

:D my first thoughts too on seeing them thar' pictures.

Shouldn't that be 'the flammability of humans' :) (health and safety semantics).

  • I know but that would not allow me to do this:

"inflammable means flammable!? What a country!"

  • well i've nearly finished it now, will put pics on soon, just waiting on one or two more parts, but its rideable. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find a new brake? Or will it be a pain in the arse finding one that'll fit with such a big gap at the front??

  • do a search for "deep drop front brake"

there's loads of decent dual caliper jobbies out there

might be a good idea to measure the distance first

  • new pics. it's finished now, just need to take some more pictures but you pretty much get the idea.

  • oh and thanks for the suggestion rpm

  • how's your chainline, with that hollowtech mtb set up?

and that **is **a huge brake drop !

  • its ok, im running 42:16...theres a little bit of a funny sound coming from inside the bottom bracket when you pedal but i think its just grit or something so im just going to give it a good clean out. and yes... this is why i'm finding it hard to get a good new brake, the brake moves a bit when I brake hard and the pads are getting a bit close for comfort to the tire when i have to brake hard...... I've tightend it all up as much as possible and its not helping, i'm at a bit of a loss about what to do about it. Just hope that a new brake would solve the problem!

  • just done a gung ho measure and its around 70mm odd, which is out of range of most deep drop brakes it seems.

    via some other thread i've seen people suggest;
    http://www.bikeparts.com/productinfo/Tektro-Sidepull-Brake61-78mm-reach-52715-89695.html

but they dont look all that different to what i have at the moment so im a bit dubious about that, does anyone have any experience with these;??

  • If you want to keep the MTB / Road mashup theme going get one of these v-brake mount plates - £22 though..

^That isnt really a very sensible idea, but with such a large drop its either that or get a drop-bolt, or get a BMX caliper which has a bigger drop, or get an alhonga long-drop caliper, or get...

  • oops - beaten to it.
BmX calipers are pretty good nowadays I believe..

  • Got it:
    "astound"
