Pista bars?

Hi, newbie with handlebar quandary! Please forgive if this is a)v obvious b)already covered somewhere...
I recently swapped from roady drops (too wide) to a narrowish flatbar, but now find the reach is a bit short as my stem's got a slight rise in it. This is ok but not great if you want a bit of sprint overtaking bendybuses, david cameron etc.
So, am wondering if a pair of pista drops would be the best answer? if so would I be committing any crimes by putting them on a non-vintage bike? Also, is the standard bar circumference narrow enough for a tektro bmx lever?

Hi there,
If the reach is too short but you like the bars then why not change the stem?
Do you miss having drops to use in windy conditions?

Yeah good call I'll look into a new stem...might want to go back to drops anyway tho...
