  • I have just bought a Giant Cadex 980c which is about 10 years old. It is in excellent condition, very few scuffs/scratches as it wasn't used very much and was kept in storage.

I am really happy with it, but a few problems have come to light. Firstly, around the boundaries between the carbon fibre and aluminium lugs it seems that the aluminium has corroded slightly causing slight chips (I don't know if there is a resin covering that has chipped or the aluminium itself). Is it possible to repair and protect these areas?

    Thanks

just saw one of those last week, nice frames. is there any discoloration (dark gray or black splotches) of the aluminum? this would show oxidation and weakening of the material, if these are present you should start looking at a new frame. if the polish, or chrome over the aluminum is chipping you should throw some clear nail polish, or automotive touch up paint on them. a respray is also an option, though a pricey one and i would caution against powder coating carbon fiber.

oh and after i get a track tandem im getting a geared bike.

and what about VB the creator god... as a god can i smote those whom displease me?
