40 hole rear hub?

Posted on
  • Am rebuilding a set of 27 inch wheels for the 1960s 531 frame I found in a bin. Rims and front hub are in great shape but back one is knackered. Anybody got a 40 hole screw on hub they want to get rid of, or know where I can find one?

  • phils come in 40h....

  • Looking at the Phil website I can only find 40 holes in their standard tandem hub for a cassette... Maybe I am looking in the wrong place (track hubs seems to stop at 36)?

  • your right... i thought they came in 40, website says no.

  • you could get a 40 hole disk hub and and one of the lfb bolt on track cogs...

  • Go and have a word with a tandem specialist I would of thought.

  • NOS campag I think. Dogs has one on his old bike.

  • Theres usually loads on the 'bay. 32/40 used to be standard. All Ive got spare right now is an old bayliss unit hub (kinda heavy, but awesome for making weird custom freewheel clusters..) Ive got an old airlite soon to be spare too, but i havent worked out how to get a stripped 3speed block off it yet..

  • Campyoldy will do you a NOS record 40h for about £55. Cheaper than a Phil I guess

  • thanks. had found my way to Campyoldy too and lo and behold....
