Darsham: 4 miles from Dunwich: apparently £31 on the train 2 hrs +
Ipswich: 30 miles from Dunwich: apparently £29 on the train 1hr 15 mins -

Slam and I rode to Darsham station. It was the longest 4 miles I have ever ridden. I think Slam was suffering too.

get a few of you together and bribe a non cycling friend with hard cash to meet you there at 7am with coffee/tea/BBQ/cake/drugs/clean clothes/ and drive you home.
having sat on the beach eating lamb chops and home made banana cake (in clean/dry clothes) there is no way i'm getting a coach/train -

15 passenger van and a trailer will sort you out, as only half of the people on the list will show on the day
If everyone pays up front for the transport they will all show up. Simple as that.

Last year I'd already booked the bus back as it was like an entry fee - I had to ride there now otherwise I was wasting money. Plus early bird spots are cheaper. The other issue was that trains weren't running properly from Ipswich I think (unless I imagined it?).
I could be up for riding to Ipswich if someone else wants to navigate for me? :) -

Have you not just spent hundreds of pounds on a fancy gps gizmo?

Not quite but yes I could use that. I don't have a bike mount for it yet nor have I sussed the mapping stuff. Wish I'd taken it to Brighton.. would've helped on the way back! :S

Check this out. They are the people who I went with along with Tower hamlets Wheelers when last I required an early departure from a cool Dunwich beach. Forgot that what they will do is the van and a trailer and that takes about 15. Don't know their prices but they will organise beers on the bus and usually have the cheesiest disco as well.
Tips
- Book van early
- Get people to pay well in advance else the organiser will run at a loss.
- Ride to Dunwich
- Enjoy an early return.

Last year I cycled through to Ipswich (so i could get the train to Norwich). It was a lot of fun. Though mainly because the weather ended up being gorgeous (I then cycles another 12 miles to felixstowe to relax on the beach for the rest of the day!)
It is not a remarkably hard trip but I think cycling to Ipswich after doing the DD would be a bit too much for those have never even ridden the DD before.

• #167
If I ever get there, having managed to to find the way out of London by following you lot, I'm booking in to the Bell at Walberswick for a 3 day rest period.
-

That is what duck tape is for, it's almost like carbon fiber so will suit your plastic bike.
-
• #169
That's if I ride the plastic bike. It doesn't help that the three bikes I'd use have 3 different bar diams. and Garmin don't do 31.8mm clamps. I've also got to sort out the mapping.. time required to play around with it.

whats happening to the Ribble?
-
• #171
I'm trying to sort out bike insurance and then I'm going to leave it at The George ;)
-
• #172
it'll still be there the next morning
-
• #173
I'll convert it to singlespeed first.. it'll be gone in a flash then :P
-
• #174
The coach tickets are still on sale at the early bird price of £14 until the end of the month.
-
• #175
weren't we going to do a forum bus? is that still on? Does someone apart from Velocity boy need to organise?
Anyone! Anyone! Bueller!
Train from... Ipswich is it? It's very tempting. If I don't get a coach for LFGSS riders then it will be a train from there.
