sjs do heaps of 27" bits, no problem ;)

or just run 700cc in there.

Thats what I thought. Think the fr brake will move down a bit for the 700c

You could probably keep the crankset on it and save some money. A Sugino crank's a pretty pricey addition.

Thought about that, but the small ring is a bit buggered (teeth are quite bad) and the biggest is a 52 which is too big. What rear cog would I need to keep the ratio about like a 44/16 if I used the 52 ring?

44/16 = 74.25
52/19 = 73.89 -

44/16 = 74.25
52/19 = 73.89with 27s or 700s?

44/16 = 74.25
52/19 = 73.89Will try that then. Depends what chainline I can get with the crank. Ta

with 27s or 700s?
27s, but it's all relative anyway.

not really, as the whole point of GI is to be able to compare gears among different wheels sizes, the 700 one will be even lower, i would guess at around 70gi for 52/19

I was assuming he'd decided on 44/16 by trying it on his normal bike (presumably with 700c). By relative, I meant the wheel size is academic if they're the same.

I run 52 x 19 and let me tell you my cock has never been longer.

using 26.3 for 700cx23 then...
52/19= 71.98
52/18 = 75.98 -

...so I need some wheels now. Are these 700c ( I can't find if it says) : http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=cycle&ProdID=5360020421&N=Mavic%20Open%20Sport%20Rim
I need a rear 126mm axel. Where can I order a flip-flop hub that size? cheers
Hi Guys,
I was pointed to this forum direction by a workmate. I am currently working in Sweden. I bought a classic '80s Crescent racing bike to commute to work, which I used most of last year. I have recently had problems with the wheels, and constantly getting punctures on the old tyres (only small veriaty available for my wheel size). The gears and crank are all showing signs of their age now, so I thought it would be a good time to update the major parts into a singlespeed. The model name is Crescent 92317-fashion line.
I have attched some pictures of it (needs a clean admittedly!). I measured the rear, and it seems to be about 125mm
So, I firstly want to find some new size wheels(700c I think?) which I can fit decent tyres to. The current sizing says: 32-630 27x1-1/4. Does anyone know what size wheels will fit? I would be looking for something like mavic open pro's (which I have on my bike at home). I guess you can get these wheels with the 'flip-flop' rear hubs in? Also i'd ideally like to keep the front brake, but not sure if it will fit over 700c wheels...
I would like to replace the Bottom bracket and crank too. Can anyone reccomend a decent, reliable combination? I am looking at a 44/16 ratio, which is about right for me. I have seen some Sugino cranks which look good. My main problem here is I havent a clue which Bottom bracket will fit this frame.
This bike will be my weekday bike which will have to be reliable. I want to buy decent parts, but at the same time they dont need to be top of the range stuff. I will want to take (post?!) the bike back to the uk when I finish here in July.
If anyone can reccomend parts, Good shops, and advice id greatly appriciate it!
Regards,
Tim
