That "guy" is actually Suzy J.. a very talented Aussie chick who used to post on aus.bicycle (my previous postking location).

    Lovely bike.
    Terrible branding IMHO.

  • Gutted. Everything else I could say has already been uttered above.

what about, HTFU, just ride it??

  • i was in bob jacksons last week and they give a 3, 5 or 10 year warantee on there frame
s (i cant remember which... i was distracted by the shiny hetchins...)

either way is definately 3 years or more...

  • also I like the title
    'holy fucking BB shell'- clever.
But yeah, all of us with Bob Jacksons will be listening intently to hear what happens.
    Hope it all works out.
Out of interest what type of frame is it?

  • Off the peg Vigorelli.

I'm comforted by the collective "it's going to be alright mate" vibe. Ta all!

  • It's better than that, I tipped of Bob Jackson about the thread because I love mine and wanted to give them a chance to respond directly before the frenzied mob on this forum started baying for blood ;) and this is the response:

Thanks for the tip off David, Just a little bit lost to why the guy has not contacted us. Things like this can happen and if the frame is still in the warranty period which it will be after 3 months (5 year guarantee) it should be brought to our attention so we can get the frame back and look into this matter. Why is the guy talking about spending money and taking it to Witcomb's cycles???

Bob Jackson Cycles takes all warranty claims very serious and if it is found to be a fault of ours we will be only to happy to arrange repair or replacement and also to arrange our courier (TNT) to collect and re-deliver at no cost to the customer.

I would be grateful if you could post this on your site and pass this message onto the customer.

    Donald Thomas(MD BJC)

So there you have it. Contact the shop straight away, and get the frame sent back to Bob Jackson who will put it right.

  • it was late yesterday, so i doubt they were open. no wonder they feel flexy in the BB region? :p

  • I haven't had a chance to call them yet this morning and last night was a bit of a 'heat of the moment' post as I've admitted. Couldn't find the reference to warranty on my own etc.

Thanks VB and sorry for any implied criticism of BJ without having had time to speak to them first.

Can we lock this up?? Sink?

  • We have no locked threads or sunk threads. Just know that they've got your bike covered and the service is there, and give us updates as you go along.

What shop are you dealing with btw? Most of your service issues will go back to how well they handle being the middle-man and if the frame was off-the-peg and they built it, then there's still the possibility they might screw up in the stripping and re-building even if BJ provide a wonderful service and replacement frame.

  • what about, HTFU, just ride it??

    Gaffer tape it, baby

  • Got it mail order direct from BJ who factory fitted bb and headset so shouldn't be a problem.

  • bad luck adoubletab these things happens, short of some sort of x-ray test on every joint you will get failures that slip through the net. Glad to see it is being sorted, I can't imagine a company like bj doing anything other than sorting it out under warenty tute suet.

    You'll be fine then.

  • Hi There,

Just a quick introduction and reply to adoubletap, My name is Paul Kirk (Kirky) and I am the retail manager at Bob Jackson Cycles. If you would like to contact me on 0113 2559844 I will arrange to have the frame and forks collected and returned to us at Bob Jackson Cycles.

As Donald has kinda mentioned, we are a small UK custom builder and we takew pride in our product. With regards to this we offer a 5 year guarentee on all our frames wether off the peg or custom. We take any warrenty claims very serious and hope we can resolve the issues you have asap.

Look forward to hearing from you soon,

    Regards.

    Kirky!

  • Thanks Paul

I already grabbed your number off the website this morning and will call at lunchtime.

  • 14 Hours later and a reply from HQ. Thats progress..

  • Forum Power!

  • BJ have had TNT collect the frame already and it's winging its way to Leeds as we speak.

Years of dealing with "customer service" from most other companies probably flavoured my (looking back at them) pretty embarrassing/paranoid/raving posts from Wednesday night.

  • just for the record - i totally love my Bob Jackson.

  • Glad things seem to be sorted! I think that BJ need to be congratulated for stepping in and saying that they're going to sort matters ASAP. I know that sometimes you buy things that don't work right and it's the way that companies respond that makes a difference.

  • I know this is not completely relevant but I've spent (and wasted) loads on off-the-peg, i.e. ready-made-pay-us-what-we-ask super slick road bikes over the years. Last month I went for a fit at BJ for my first track frame and it was (take your pick) A.... like a breath of fresh air, B..... like a slap around the head. I guess what I mean is - they put so much into the fit I really felt like I was getting something I was paying for and they they knew their stuff and took pride in the whole operation. I learned more in 2 hours about bikes than in the last 5 years. I was (and am) in no doubt that your problem will be dealt with in a 1950's fashion, if you know what I mean.

A visit BJ in Leeds if you're up that way is recommended - just for the browsing experience if nothing else.

  • Gotta say, if I buy a track frame it'll definitely be from BJ on the back of this. What has Dolan done in the past apart from prevaricate? And Mercian just costs too much.
