Sneaky bike locking

There is no provision in British law that you must make your bike safe for people who wish to steal it.

If I remove my brake pads - and then that bike is stolen - do you expect a successful prosecution could be brought - on what grounds ?

I'm not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV but people litigate and win in al sorts of scenarios. How about the bloke who sued another bloke for sprinting on the hoods and not the drops?
