  • ko found them no worries

  • if you're making a load for anyone to use then make them in a few different sizes.

  • sheep do you know how to make them?

    the dave way

good hint from Max, heat the pipe then let it shrink onto the ski pole

  • When are you making them?
I've still got two to do.

heat the ski pole, heat the pipe it'll melt

  • i don't buy this technique, you can get a tighter fit by using brute force

  • i was talking about the other max, but m a x 's idea is also a good one

fixed freak(max), drilled the hole first, heated the pipe, then let it shrink onto the pole

  • ok, not made them before so all tips are welcome.

drilling a hole then heating the pipe seems like a good plan. i also have bolts to put in horizontally, what's the best way to do that?

object, could make them up on sunday morning if you wanted to come round before polo?
all the poles i got were way too long so i lobbed the handle off as they're useless anyways. i'm thinking maybe some bar tape for the grip?

also, after cutting 10 bits of my stash of piping, i have enough for another 20 at least. so, if anyone needs any, lemme know.

  • sheep will need some, if i get some poles from the guy

  • cool, how much? i can cut it and put it aside in the event of a rush.........?
where you getting the poles from? the ebay guy i mentioned a few posts ago came through pretty well.

  • yer i'm seeing what sizes he has, i'll let you know when he gets back to me

you going to south polo today?

  • nah man i've got a gig to go to! it always seems to clash with something.....

i got a mix of 125 and 130 from him but as you need to cut the handles off anyways you can just cut them down to whatever size you like? worked out at £6 a pair for me so it's cheap as you're gonna get anywhere, even if they're not perfect size wise.

  • sheep, try TKMAXX, I've seen a few pairs still lurking even in crappy smaller branches!

you should've read further down the thread, i've got loads now for cheap off of t'bay. thanx anyways though.

  • my bad, too lazy.

  • Hey sheep, Good work on Sunday. I think with 10 mallets we did ourselves proud.

  • with that production line we could've made dozens in no time if we'd had more poles!

  • We'll wait for the summer and sell them all to the hipsters. By this time next year we could be....just another bunch of spiteful people making quick coinage from the fixed gear fad ;]

  • sounds good to me :D

  • lidl has walking poles for sale....cheap, think they're non telescopic so could be good?

  • Cheers for the heads up. We're probably good for the minute as it's sensible to put these ones through the paces before we make more.

anyone checked these out? thinking of poping in to the one on oldkent road today or tomorrow

  • at my local lidl it's a set of 2 walking poles for £15. i think they're 'carbon' so not sure if they'll be up for the rigours of polo...

  • yeah the ebay link further up the thread seems to be the cheapest place so far...
