Cheap but decent hotel in central Paris...

  • Any recommendations? Taking the gf to Paree and don't wanna wind up in a roach-infested pit... Budget is a primary concern, I'm totally Peer Gynt... Thanks muchly... Joe
    Also... Any 'secret' bike shop locations greatly appreciated, even tho' this is a "no talking about/shopping for 'fucking' bikes" trip... ;)

  • I stayed in the Hotel Mercedes which wa fairly central. It was both cheap and clean. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187147-d239619-Reviews-Hotel_Mercedes-Paris_Ile_de_France.html

  • When you going to Paris Joe? I'm going to be there at the end of the month for a few days (after my first trip to Spain ever!). I'm guessing the no-talking-bikes rule means an attached no-brining-bike rule?

  • I stayed in a nice* hotel in paris, for 20 euro a night, in the red light district view of the moulon rouge, en suite, close to metro.

    *if you ignore the smell, broken glass in the toilet, broken exhaust fan, and prostitutes that share the building.

  • Hotel Esmeralda

    failing that the Ibis in Bastille.

  • is it an LBS if your not actually local to it?

    Hey Mark, off on the 10th of next month for a long weekend, yeah, no bike :(
    Gf's first proper time so lotsa sightseeing, romantic dinners etc. Should be fun. Apparently bike shops will be on the itinerary tho'! So keep those bike shops comin'! :D
    You coming out for a beer later?
    And thanks for the hotel tips peoples, will check those out today...

  • I've just booked this place following a recommendation from a friend for me and the gf next month;

  • I was going to skip the beers as I should keep off my bike for a few days. I'm a bit stupid. I also fear the elephant and castle... But the opportunity of meeting asssuckingdickface does beckon. We'll see I suppose.

    And here's a bit of info on Cyclore en agnlais http://www.theaestheticpoetic.com/2008/03/30/cyclore-paris-fixie-bike-culture/
