Em - machined braking surfaces are a new thing, relatively. They make you stop better but brakes work relatively ok on a non-machined rim too. :)
I'd just go for 2 deep Vs...
...but then again i don't understand people who get hung up on weight and rolling resistance. I also don't understand the ackermann function. Or what provenance means, or what the difference between provenance and providence is. Among other things.
