sorry to ruin the fun - jumping in with first anti thief, torture him comment but . . . .
I went to see this bike on friday. didn't buy as it was pretty rubbish. almost defiantly not a Thame- lug work was identical to an eighties Raleigh - I proclaim to be no expert. . . says he found it on the riverbed.
Kit was: two non branded quick release hubs bog standard. (claims Alex rims- but no branding) rear wheel was a 7/8 cassette hub with DMR spacers and a cog (slipping down drop outs on rear): bonty tires, Mountain bike cranks & Pedals on original BB, old mountain bike levers on bullhorn bars (from Brick Lane Market apparently) brakes didn't work- period. Seat was also a pretty rough mountain bike Bontrager affair.
Frame didn't appear to be damaged- but was no means a light bike. Oh- fork bottoms were chrome. but black at top- insulation taped in the middle! hmm.
Anyway. hope this helps. if it is Stolen, then i'd tie a half ton of concrete to his feet and drop him in the thames (perhaps for the next whale that comes visit to eat)
A few more things - he said: he has a cannondale 59 CAAD frame which he is building up. he did ask if we wanted to come see it in his flat. he is planning on "making" more bikes up so eyes peeled- he only has a shite web cam apparently. if any of you do want to go and perform above mentioned tortures- i can send you over his number. . . he's Short in his replies as he hardly speaks english.
Hope all this is of help - to settle someone's woes or to fire up someone's hatrid-
