  • Anybody here at North London drinks tonight in The Flask? Did I see your names down Skullhead, Johnny?
I will pop by as I live up that way

probly not, I wanna be fresh for saturday, so no boozing tonight. I can't actually go to a pub without drinking, I am an alcoholic-in-the-making. Or just an alcoholic.

  • yeah i'm there, jonny is 98% i believe.

i'm there mike and jonny might be as well

  • I just did up some quick directions for the ride. Plenty of opportunities for getting lost and adding much needed miles to the route!

Not sure if we will need this much detail, there may be big signs saying 'Southend this way', but better be safe and all that.

    Looking forward to tomorrow!

Left the house in the sunshine with the aviators. By the time I was half way in I was being pelted with hail - ouch.

Come rain or shine, I'll be at the polo courts at 9am tomorrow morning. Been looking forward to this one for a while.

  • Ok. So I fixed my chain, put a 16t on the wheel, and am off to do a few laps of Vic Park. If my arm is okay after 5-10 miles, I'm soooo in. And if I'm in, I need a rain-resistant jacket. I checked Evan's and the cheapest one was 65 quid. There must be something cheaper somewhere? Any ideas? Also, is this a kind of "bring you own fucking tools" ride? Of course I'll have my own patches/tube regardless, but I'd like to leave behind spanner at least, and I don't have a pump? (I may also need to grab a saddle bag).

I'll check this message from my mobile after a few laps in case anyone has some advice.

    Hi Horatio,

Just like last weeks ride..... There will be no rain and no punctures so don't bother to bring anything......

There I go, putting the jinx on it already. I will be the first to puncture now.

Seriously though. Most people will have tools/pumps/spare inners/stickies etc. I carry all these and I am sure if you have a blow out, someone near you will be more than willing to help and wait while you repair it. Having said that though. Carrying a spare inner will speed up the process.

A good rain jacket is essential for riding in England. I spent about £80 on one several years ago. Still have it now and don't intend to replace it for a while. Its worth spending that bit extra for a high quaility jacket.

Not if you don't plan to ride in the rain!

Bah. If no one else has any ideas, I guess I'll take Mike's wise advice and grab one at Evan's.

  • Aight. Got me a jacket and saddle bag (don't have a pump though). Barring something unexpected, I will see you all tomorrow! BL polo at 9:00. I'll go post my mobile on that other thread.

  • lebowski. liking that route so let's do that. one small exception though. it would be wrong to be in victoria park and not ride clear through it. we can pop out the bottom and along the east way.

slamm, you going to film this one. can think of a good spot when we cross a pedestrian bridge before leytonstone. let's get off the front and film the crew coming through.

and illy man. i feel your excitement dude. will be good to have you out there on this one.

    until tomorrow all

  • sorry rain jackets for CHEAP place to go is decathlon.

  • ok. jamie and i will see you all at the meet.

the bbc 24 hr forecast is showing sun and a sowesterly. and cool. perfect.
