this has been in my head for the last half hour. but, won't the duel down tube weigh more than a normal down tube ie increased surface area, more paint, more welds??? where's tommy?

It might, but an ounce or two isnt a big enough deal to worry about. The bike was so small, it doesnt even use double butted tubing. The twin doentubes are only 5/8 of an inch in diameter.
