Ok. So I fixed my chain, put a 16t on the wheel, and am off to do a few laps of Vic Park. If my arm is okay after 5-10 miles, I'm soooo in. And if I'm in, I need a rain-resistant jacket. I checked Evan's and the cheapest one was 65 quid. There must be something cheaper somewhere? Any ideas? Also, is this a kind of "bring you own fucking tools" ride? Of course I'll have my own patches/tube regardless, but I'd like to leave behind spanner at least, and I don't have a pump? (I may also need to grab a saddle bag).
I'll check this message from my mobile after a few laps in case anyone has some advice.
Hi Horatio,
Just like last weeks ride..... There will be no rain and no punctures so don't bother to bring anything......
There I go, putting the jinx on it already. I will be the first to puncture now.
Seriously though. Most people will have tools/pumps/spare inners/stickies etc. I carry all these and I am sure if you have a blow out, someone near you will be more than willing to help and wait while you repair it. Having said that though. Carrying a spare inner will speed up the process.
A good rain jacket is essential for riding in England. I spent about £80 on one several years ago. Still have it now and don't intend to replace it for a while. Its worth spending that bit extra for a high quaility jacket.
