wtf
-
• #3
it folds around the cable, which is a lock. apparently puma doesn't think the down tube does any thing.

to be fair though neither do condor:

Have puma ever actually seen a bike??

to be fair though neither do condor:
no they lost the top tube.

i imagine the downtube is mostly tension? (correct me if im wrong frame builder chris crash industries ;)) if it is in tension, then cable should be enough. it doesnt need to be stiff laterally
there is an mtb company that based their rear suspension on similar principles...slingshot
-
• #8
Its true that it is mostly for tension, but it provides stiffness, in a way that i dont see a cable doing.
-
• #9
perhaps the chunkier than normal seat tube makes up for the stiffness it requires. it looks like a hybrid/mtb. dont think stiffness is a big issue in this case.
it's got a massive rear hub. could be internal gears. but what's with the bmx front end!?

• #10
it just all looks wrong to me.

This reminds me, I saw a bianchi pista concept parked outside that pub on the junction of old street and shoreditch high street, brakeless, with a coaster hub.....
-
• #12
with a coaster hub? as in a brake?
that is puppy hiroshima -
• #13
yes, sorry
brakeless as in no levers/calipers. but obviously the coasterbrake would help him/her/it slow down. Aside from that it was set up hellishly aggressive i seem to remember, BIIG saddle to bar drop, with menacing black drops.

I'd like to try one. But I suspect some scally would snip the chain for sh*ts and giggles.

Sling shot also used to make BMX and road bikes. I'd love to get my hands on one of their old road frames, by all reports whilst not being the most stiff ride ever they are light and fast. Have heard very good reports on the 29er slingshot they sell now, was looking at buying one but big $$$.

if i saw the bike i'd be tempted to put a different back wheel on it.
Saw one of these today, I thought the cable was a nice change, never thought a bike would work with a cable instead of a tube. Apparently its unstealable, obviously they havent been to London.
Is it fixed or single speed, I keep finding contradicting info
