  • Hi everyone
I try to get out as much as I can but a rarer spot on the streets of London than most of you i'm sure.
North London at the mo, be moving to Dalston soon (by summer i hope).

  • Yeah that bike is the nuts. If you had hairy feet you could be a hobbit.

    thanks for all the love

the furthest i've gone south with that bike is Clapham but only once towards end of summer last year. I'm in Hampstead at the mo, so most commonly riding to Victoria to work.

  • J4mmd, I love your Mercian dude... The paintwork is beautiful...
BTW Is that a tube protector on your downtube? Do you need it there? If not, I'll have it off ya! :)

yeah it is, i had it for another bike once upon a time, check my album of the Mercian and you'll see where the cable pulls the brake caliper, that has a nasty tendency to swing round and try to dig in the paint. Fortunately saw it before i did any damage.

  • cough sell me that down tube protector cough
    It's for my Mercian...

I have a few bits and bobs to get rid of at home at somepoint
Bob Jackson frame - same tubing, geometry, lugs, fork crown just think its a 58cm, silver, Bob jackson decals on top tube and down tube.

  • Is that the Brooks one? Was gonna stick a bit of black leather bar tape on there for the moment... I kinda like those Kashimax jobbies, price puts me off tho'...

  • nah thats a velo orange one from freshtripe.

its one thing thats been bugging me.....

  • yes,

how do those wheels ride, all the kids in D-town are on them.

They arent bad, however i think the bearings could be a bit better, i think mine need some attention, they feel dry if that makes any sense. The front is feeling less smooth and less quiet bearing any weight. I don't know if thats a common problem?

I got them cheap so i'm not too worried. If i'd had them built i'd be a little disappointed.

  • Here is a not very good picture of my bike. I really need to get a decent compact digital.

  • Ant - very nice bike indeed.

  • Thanks, that's a nice thing to say. It's a bunch of cheap parts stuck together to be honest :)

the bars aren't swept as much as they look in the picture the front wheel was turned a bit. I'll take a pick with the other front end if the sun comes back out.

  • Me like! Nice chainring! :)

  • Yeah it's lovely! Needs some steel toeclips though, the plastic looks off.

    +1

  • I agree, it was a case of "I wanna get my bike up and running" my LBS had these plastique ones. It also needs brown grips I think.

  • nice!

are the wheels different sizes? 27" and 700c

  • they do look it don't they. No they are standard sized tubulars.

  • just a far too cool forward sloping top tube i guess!

  • that's a nice frame ant. massive chainring. and brakeless around hilly orpington?
