The BHF route does look nice, but we'd defo need to print some maps up or write out a cheat sheet. There looks like plenty of opportunities for getting lost and ending up in Letchworth!

[quote=mikec;143094]That BFH route looks very nice. Quite long compared to the more direct route but it does avoid the A13 which can only be a good thing. Looks like from central(ish) london it will be 60 miles there which is the same as what we did last weekend. Though should be easier as there are no hills.
quote]I still can't make my debut on a LFGSS ride as I have to be elsewhere on Saturday but there are a few bits of info/advice I can give, as I have ridden to Southend,to assist a few people who are displaying some confusion.
Route to Southend is pretty flat. The route I would take would be something like the BHF route and that is only about 70K (45 miles) from east London. the Bikely route include the submitters ride from Streatham or some other foreign part to east london which made it close to L2B distance of 100K (60miles).

You lot could always consider the option of an early group and a late group.
Not that I'm coming or anything :(

I really don
t mind of getting the A13 all the way till dagenham, its only a few miles!!! but if no one wants it I don
t mind getting another route.. -

showing a sowesterly which is good. means we are gettin lucky.
i would prefer an early start circa 0800 hrs and to avoid the dual carriageways. i like the speed but the noise does my head in.
and i would like to have fish, chips and mushy peas when we get there.

The good chippy there is called Bailey's I believe... its on the front, kind of art deco looking place.
9.00 start! Good work mareeoh, a compromise. That half hour doesn't seem much but if we leave on time its all good.
I think two groups isn't the best idea ...

The first Southend chippy..

Is that Hippy in the bottom right hand corner? He looks like he is going to slit the photographers throat. Then possibly serve him up with those chips.
It must have been a long ride.

i plan to not move my arm till Saturday in hope of it healing for this - i even went and saw a doctor again today to make sure all is well (although biking to south beers on Monday was dumb - but i think most damage came from drunken hand shakes).
