  • 50/14 are you using that ratio on saturday?

  • have we decided what time we are meeting ?

oh and i think my mate jamie is coming (geared).

  • hi guys

im up for the ride!! the weather is getting better! today was very warm!!

I live in east london so It doesn`t make sense for me to ride till seven dials then back east.

lets meet at 9:30 at BRICK LANE POLO COURT

i need help about the route, I don`t remember from the last time.
Some one who can print as well, it would help :)

I like the sound of this. I was getting pretty confused about the meeting time and place.

  • i'll be at polo court 9.30am, bring it on!!

    (how far is it??)

  • This seems like quite a late start. Do we not want to meet up earlier like last Saturday?

    And avoid possible rain.

Is it the same distance as Brighton. I guess once we get there it will be more a case of coming straight home. Don't fancy sitting around watching loads of idiots racing their fords up and down the sea front

  • yep, i will join the east end meet at the polo court at 09:30

  • Don't fancy sitting around watching loads of idiots racing their fords up and down the sea front

I thought that's why we were going.

Reminds me of Chuck Berry, who never sells his old cars, 'Can you afford a Ford?'

  • 50/14 are you using that ratio on saturday?

Definitely not, although I knew an Essex girl who was fairly flat.

  • Oh yes of course thats why we are going. How silly of me!
I will bring me shell suit, cap and a knife in case it kicks off like.

Whats the deal with the terrain 50:14. Is the ride pretty much completely flat.
Want a ride a larger gearing for this

I think he's got a point. Thery're forecasting rain by one ish, London and Southend. Maybe meet ought to be 8. Might be a good idea for those with families etc, makes sure the whole day isn't eaten up by this.

Thats my thinking exactly. My life is being overtaken by cycling events and her indoors is becoming disquiet!

  • has anyone sorted out a route yet? might have a look at bikely.com and see if there are any posted on there.

  • re: route
    from last year's adventure

I've not added myself to the list but will definitely be there. I would also prefer an earlier start. Is anyone planning to ride the return leg?

  • there's nothing wrong with a little bit of rain l's & g's.

  • We had a lot of rain last time. It made the start quite miserable. But still... once you're past the dual-carriageways rain won't be as petrifying.

  • found a couple
this one seems to spend a bit too much time on the A13, but I've never ridden to southend, so don't know if you can do it a different way
    http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/London-to-Southend-on-Sea

this one heads us up north, then back down slightly longer than the one before
    http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/london-blackfriars-to-southend-on-sea

and this one is similar to the one above, and is supposedly the BHF route

  • there's nothing wrong with a little bit of rain l's & g's.

Yeah HTFU and all that, I'm not scared of water, but I think it's really people (well, three so far) wanting to get it started earlier anyway, whatever the weather may hold.

'Course its probably unwise to change the time since this has been in the pipeline for a long time, people will have made plans accordingly. I'd be happy to go at 9.30 still.

  • the BHF route is superb. Sadly though I'm out unless an act of god intervenes and I havent got to work.

  • That BFH route looks very nice. Quite long compared to the more direct route but it does avoid the A13 which can only be a good thing. Looks like from central(ish) london it will be 60 miles there which is the same as what we did last weekend. Though should be easier as there are no hills.
Or are there? No one has given an answer to this question yet!

So we need to nail down a start time and place. I am still up for an earlier start maybe 8.30 sharp near Brick Lane?

  • 8.30am @ Brick Lane is good for me & dt

I'll be cheating with gears again :D

Yep I'd be up for an earlier start too. Need to be back early.
