  • That actually makes a hell of a lot of sense.

I am guessing it is a standard split in the rear of the upper seat tube and a standard clamp that sits on top of the seat tube.

The bloke (the owner of the bike) posted a load of stuff about it over on bikeforums.

  • I heart that.

  • I found some interesting bikes here moments ago.

True DIY fixed wheel... I never get tired of it.

EDIT: things moved last night find it now here.

  • The "bloke" is actually Don Walker, and yes, he built this one for his little girl. Besides being a fine bike builder and consumer of fine Scotch Whiskey, Don is the founder of NAHBS. http://www.handmadebicycleshow.com/2008/ for bike porn aplenty.

Since the owner of bikeforums sold out to internet marketeers bike forums has become unsearchable, unnavigable, slow, and frankly utterly unusable. It's such a shame, so much great information on there that is impossible to find.

  • For me this is porn, what do you people think?

  • ....and please can some one tell me what to do, to post the pics in big, I new and don"t know.

Now don't take this the wrong way…
… but gods I wish I was his daughter.

  • Oh, and by the way. I believe it's traditionally Scotch Whisky, and Irish *Whiskey*.

  • :o

... still not tired of it ...

No no, that was the right way of doing it. Click the images for big... but when we load the page over and over we just see the thumbnails.

and i thought that was just me not knowing how to use it. frame forum is hard to use too, maybe you can show them how it should be done.

  • I almost bought bike forums a few years ago. But was too late and he'd taken it off the market for a while. I loved it then, but it dived pretty quick. The owner wasn't really interested in it any more.

And frame forum... can you imagine me telling Sachs what to do? Didn't think so.

  • how much does a good (or bad) forum go for these days?

if you don't mind me asking

  • 15 x yearly profits is the base rate for buying anything. So you have to make a guess as to the revenue and costs to determine the offer you should make. I figured it was badly setup, indexed and had a bad revenue model and could be made much better, I was willing to start at $100k and perhaps go as far as $140k.

  • its a shame you didn't get it, would have been better under your hands, but then we might not have this, so i will be happy with what we have.

  • Oh I couldn't have afforded it. My backers vanished when their mortgages started going up. They were just mates with savings.

I prefer this. There's a lot of idiots on bikeforums. And a lot of good people left a while ago as bikeforums can drive you nuts.

  • VelocityBoy, and how is that the pics of some people are in big. Why is the correct way see the thumbnails, and no the big one?

  • rik, the big ones are hosted some where else and just shown on the forum, if you right click on a big one it will say copy image address, paste that in your web browser and it takes you to a different site. the small ones are hosted here, click on them and it shows them full size, and you will see in your address bar that you are still in the same part of the internet.
