Can't you miserable bastards who want to browse this forum while you are at work simply drag the window to the left a little so any avatars are off screen ?

The point is that avatars are useful in subliminally knowing who is chatting, but the flashy animated ones are overly distracting to some people.

Having an option to turn off the display of animated avatars on a per user basis would be ideal, for me.

Andrew, your avatar is genius, I only just noticed it. My vote is for more people with tits instead of eplilepsy inducing flashing animations.

I've turned avatars off using the preferences screen (something that's better than vanilla) so that it's less obvious that the site has nothing to do with work.
