    I see !

  • btw I really think these cunts are on and using this forum.

This thought has occurred to me more than once. Sadly I think there's next to nothing that could be done about it.

I can't believe they wouldn't be on here. They might be inbred pedo cunts, but they aren't necessarily incapable of using the internet. It doesn't take much for anyone with a particular purpose to do a bit of research, and if you're researching fixed bikes in London you'll end up here. And if they didn't know it already, they'll soon know exactly what brands are popular/desirable/outdated, and have a fair idea where to get them.

  • Hmm very weird all this.

Yeah, occurred to me a couple of times too.

The only thing we could do would be to limit lots of threads to members who are somehow 'verified' as genuine, which would suck a lot.

  • You'd think the spotter could just tell his accomplice, "It's the one that says 'Bridgestone' on it." Or is London awash with Bridgestones? If every bike rack and set of railings features at least two, then the risk of stealing the frame in the less desirable colour clearly explains the use of the magnet. :-)

Don't leave it unattended again, eh? Take a different bike when you need to lock up in the street.

  • I wasn't concerned, just bemused.

I was pretty confidant the bike would be there when I got back. Left it for under ten minutes in a really busy area, tight pedestrian thoroughfare. It was locked up high to multiple railings with a very-near-fuck-off-lock with me but seconds away.

As I said up top, it was just weird as fuck, plus I scored a magnet.

    Result !

  • PS

    What is a 'very-near-fuck-off-lock' ?

  • Abus granite extreme 59

  • Maybe a magnet could signify whether a bike's been left all day/overnight/all week.

If it was ridden (but then relocked in the same place the next day), the magnet would probably have come off due to vibrations. If it's still there, the bike is 'dormant', and possibly seen as a more justifiable take...?

Pure conjecture. Bike thief isn't one of the many jobs on my CV.

I was thinking the same. I think Montreal cops (parking cops) use chalk on tires while making their rounds to see if they've been parked longer than allowed (maybe this is done here as well?).

  • Well basically they're all idiots because as we all know, fixed wheel is dead. Nobody wants NJS shit anymore, everyone knows it's all just a con. Anyone in the know would tell you that a bridgestone is only worth shillings, and someone who tries to nick them is blatantly a retard.

Marin hybrids however... fuck me they're going to be huge.

    Good thinking.

yup my parents live in a small town outside of montreal and the fuzz there (during winter) wipe the snow and slush shit off of one head and tail light to cars parked outside the 2 (yes there are only 2) bars so they can tell from a distance if someone has been at the bar:ergo drinking.

v clever but you dont score a magnet when you get back. :(

  • So they don't want carbon or aluminium bikes then?

  • So they don't want carbon or aluminium bikes then?

Those tend to get nicked straight out of people's homes or sheds. Magnet surplus to requirements.

  • Trudat :-((

  • I heard that thieves are now attaching a small container of breadcrumbs with a metal grilled base to the bottom bracket shells of £££ bikes, so that they can follow the trail of crumbs to the bike owners' luxury homes, which they'll rob later.

    It's all getting very cynical.

  • I prefer to use a harpoon.

  • shoulda rang a few friends and hung around for them to come back.

Second person on this forum (other than me) with a Montreal connection! Go Montreal! Where is it your parents live? Rural Quebec is probably the only rural anything in North America I could imagine ever living in.

  • magnet is curious though. a sticky label would work just as well, and be much cheaper for the thieves

    Saying "Reserved for Thieving" ?
