  • I've been suffering with pain in my right knee for a month or two, I too have been riding fixed most days for about 9 months, the pain is only noticeable off my bike and especially when I cross my legs, ie when I slightly twist my knee joint. Recently I have been having the pain even when I’m just sitting down on a chair not doing anything.

I thought this must be the unnatural forces exerted on my knees caused by slowing down on a fixed wheel, but after seeing this thread I thought there must be other things to try going back to a singlespeed freewheel.

I ride less than I did at approx 5 miles a day on flat so its not a great deal, my setup & position on the bike seems perfect and very comfortable, I'm 6" and ride an old 58cm Mercian frame and I'm youngish at 26. I ride a 50/17 gear ratio with mks sylvans and medium sized cages (maybe try a large?)

Has anyone else experienced problems with their knees?
Any help greatly appreciated as always.
