so is there functionality here to click on a thread and it takes you to the point where you read last time you visited ?
( i mean like in the previous version, let's say you read on page 25 , and since then there have been let's say 20 pages posted, do i have to search out myself the page where i ended when i visit next time, or can it somehow take me to the last viewed page out of them all ? ) -

Yes there is.
Once you have clicked "Mark Forums Read" once, everything you've read should be tracked accurately.
On threads in which there are new posts there is a little arrow to the left of the thread title. Click that and you will go directly to the first unread post in that thread.

Is it possible to make that the default behaviour when you click on a thread title, rather than having to hunt for the little (10 pixels?) arrow? Then it would feel like home :-)

Probably.
I'll have to look into it as I'd need to give you a way to get to the first post anyway, and I'm not sure what that link would do to guests and when you've read the thread. Currently if you've read the thread the link disappears.

ahh at last... it was driving me nuts having to click all the way through a thread to get to the last unread one :)

Sorted.
Click thread titles to go to the first new post.
I've left the little arrow there to help you see what contains new posts.
Click the "Started by" to get to the start of the thread.

Hmmm.
You know, this doesn't work so well when it's search results, tag results, etc.
Then you do want to get to the start of the thread and not the end.
Hmmm.

OK... is this too confusing:
If there are unread posts... that's where the thread title will take you.
If all posts in the thread are read... you'll go to the first post in the thread.
This means using the "Posts" link to track new stuff works like Vanilla... but things like search results, tag pages, etc help you find what you want quicker by sending you to the beginning of the thread as that is most likely to have the thing you're looking for.

woohoo
I'm sure that there used to be a button on the menu bar for "Show me all of the threads that have new posts snce my last visit", but I can't find it any more.
Am I being dense, or has it moved/gone?
