  • runcible rakan Anyone whose going to polo on Sunday and wants to chat to a woman from Time Out can you whisper me today please?

They want to do a piece about bike polo for a cycling issue of the mag.

They like to have a number of a couple of people they can meet up with when they get there and to check its actually happening....

Yeh i just spoke to a friend of mine at time out, she has given the photographer my number to interview and photograph me. I think it would be better if they interview/photograph someone who has played polo more than once.....

Whose number shall i give her????

  • ...

the lady photographer was very friendly

  • You could have some fun..

"you see it's a ride to the death.. the balls is steel.. the mallets are spiked.. the last person to retire injured or killed wins the match.."

  • I dieded last! I win!

  • I'm totally into playing tmrw. Rain or not.
    Who's up for it?

  • So long as people are playing, and the weather isn't shit, I'm going to stop by and watch. Maybe meet up with a friend or two, and drink some beers.

  • no go for me, out of country :(

  • i'm in, rain or shine

I cant PM you for some reason... so ill just post it here instead

    • Still thinking about coming over to the house before polo?
You know you want to :D

I might even have some brownies left over -

  • the polo was much fun today, although there weren't that many players. and there was a lot of bmx. and a nice chap riding what appeared to be a tractor. and several frenchies avec yorgo.

but yes, good games all round.

i feel the barbecue season is not far off.

  • yeah good day, but too much tricks/posing/looking good shit. Good atmosphere but slow polo, people didn't even want to play!! In NYC they have a lottery system cause so many people wanna play all at once!
Were was the hardcore crew? Mike, Michael, Rob, Dale, Aidan, etc...?

  • dale is in scotland. aidan hasn't been seen since Herne Hill. Michael was moving house. Rob, DT, Hops had a heavy night.

none of them are hardcore enough.

  • indeed, excellent polo shananagins, thanks all for the games, excellent. i agree yorgo, for all the people there there wasn't a lot of folks getting involved, i think a lotto is an excellent idea, we have a chalk board installed and everything, it is hard for us novices to get in on games when the hardcore crew are around :D

  • sorry i wasn't there...i was hanging with the south London crew :)
    until next week....

We tried to do a novices/beginners day once. Was going to do a 2 regular games and 1 novice game rota but nobody stepped up...

BTW Michael, Agata and myself were moving house yesterday with the help of Rob (not slamm rob).

  • but the lotto is a good idea no? hope the move went well mike :)

  • has anyone seen rad ball before? Who needs mallets when you have crazy handlebars and seat tubes (and a strict work out regime).

  • yeah i felt pretty lucky to only rock up for 45 mins or so but get a couple of games in. was surprised as i heard often it is hard to get a game at all. not complaining though, and always happy to lose a bit of skin to (mad) max ;)

  • From BSNYC:

"The whole "bike polo" thing is really funny, but is obviously made up. I mean, who would actually want to play polo on a bike? Cyclists don't enjoy chasing balls around with sticks in small areas--that's why they become cyclists! If there really was such a thing as "bike polo," then the people who played it would essentially just be frat boys in different clothing."

  • when I say they have a "lottery" in NYC what happens is that everyone throws their mallets in, and they end up with like 20 mallets on the court, and 6 get selected to play, then the rest get bundled in packs of 6 and are used in the next games etc...

  • I was gonna spread the word at polo today but since it doesn't look like it's happening... some mates are playing a gig at the Dolphin on Mare St. tonight so if anybody wants to get out, come down and have a few drinks.

    Hear them here:
