If Rapha ran the buses, tickets would be more expensive, but they'd be made from small patches of rubber cut from the cast-off tubulars of yesteryear's cycling heroes. And Oyster cards would have a discrete pearl embedded in the corner, which carries a small inscription telling of how riders from the Tour de France of yore would get off their bikes at Marseille and dip their feet in the sea; and if they found a pearl lodged between their toes it was seen as a positive omen from Neptune, who, unbeknownst to most, was almost as keen a cycling fan as Mercury.
