EDIT - duplicate

As far as my rather limited technical understanding goes this can fit to most hubs- does not have to be a cassette version as in the picture.

To be fair Scott has a point in terms of faff and cost.
The list of hubs that the converter works with is fairly comprehensive: http://www.firstprinciples.ca/comptab.html

provenrad Goldtec kicking around is goood. :-) I want a 29er too, but its not gonna happen this year..
Has anyone tried putting a BMX caliper on the back of a disc brake frame??The tyres are surely too big?
And the old single bolt BMX brakes were shit :] -

I bought a on one single speed disk hub, have not built it up yet but seems quite sturdy.

Has anyone tried putting a BMX caliper on the back of a disc brake frame??What you could do it get a bolt on u brake plate and run some ad990s or what ever the new versions are. Good brakes and should clear the tyres.
Max you could consider this too.

scott not scot It's scary to think how cheap the on one must be to produce for them to sell em so cheaply.
and scary to think how big the mark up is on other taiwan built frames (especially surly which seems a good comparison)
-
• #44
but Surley stuff has to go via Americaland, where it is a reasonble price but then the 350 usd frame becomes a 350 gbp frame over here and hence is not cheap anymore.
-
• #45
well maybee they should send them direct and t would be cheaper for everyone

But everthing is cheaper in America and wages are lower too! I like my surly but still think it's a bit overpriced for what it is. Not just picking on Surly because theit frames aren't massively different from other manufacturers. On-one also save a lot by dealing directly and not having to cover shop and distribution costs.
The Surly fixer needs spacers to fit 135mm + if you re-dish the wheel it will still have a narrower flange width than a SS MTB hub.
Phil Wood if you can afford, it will hold its value.
Else I still think a SS / Disc hub will be fine. You would want the option of putting a freewheel on I suspect, so brakeless at the back will restrict you.
