How to Remove Graphics?

Posted on
  • Anyone have any ideas about how to go about removing graphics off of carbon without destryoing the carbon? Also anyone know how to remove graphics off a polished crank??

    Thanks.

  • Chain degreaser n elbow grease will get the decals off the cranks. Are the ones on the carbon laquered over? If so you'll have to like them or lump them. Or send them to Argos

    As far as I know.

  • furious tiles, thanks...think i'm stuck with them then!

  • If they're like the older style Hed3 graphics which were on top of the laquer you can peel the off very carefully with a scalpel and then clean the remaining stickiness off with some GT85 and a clean rag.

    GT85 ?

I wouldn't have thought that would have worked (?)

Lighter fluid is the king of sticky removal.

But lighter fluid on carbon is a silly idea, GT85 is safe.
I use lighter fluid for any other sticker removeal that's required though.

I will have to try GT85, never tried it before.

Lighter fluid on carbon is fine ? What's the problem ??

  • It's fine provided the carbon has no scratches, if not then there's a chance that the lighter fluid can damage the laquer.
GT85 involves a lot more elbow grease but is has no effect on resins - I was just working on the side of caution.

I will look out for that, never had a problem in the past.

P.S are my forks meant to be this floppy ?

  • Heh.
