  • Good idea, I hear Mosquito bikes in Islington do bike set ups and check your riding position...maybe worth a shot.

Shit...I better do some work....keep comments coming, will check in later...

Mind you, I do need a new bag...whatever I go for...

  • My "Pac" band has the X strap and works great for working a a messenger and having heavy shit in your back all day, the backpacks are less convenient as you have to take the darn completely off your back to get something out. But then again pac bags are very expensive. The Archie bags have the X-strap also are as practical :), but I have no patience in that respect... :$

  • do you have a good pad on the strap? it does make a lot of difference.

  • hello all

i'm new, so apologies if this has been covered/is obvious....

i use a courier bag day-to-day, but when i have loads to carry (or my rsi is bad) i use an ortlieb, they're pretty cool (and massive). only issue i have is that they're quite deep, so could dig in if you're riding low.

anyways, you can see/buy them here:
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ProductDetail.aspx?Cat=cycle&ProdID=5360007561&N=Ortlieb%20Messenger%20Courier%20Bag

    hope it helps.

  • If you are going to use a backpack get one with a chest and/or at least a waist strap, will stop the load wobbling all over and bouncing every time you mount a curb.

  • do you keep your hands in one place or move around ?

if im on a long ride i move around the bars loads and keep arms slightly bent, no problems to date
obviously dont move ever second lol!

  • Yea, I move around frequently, Im thinking this must be position / bike set up...will tinker a little and see if it makes any difference!

  • try swap shoulder and using padded gloves to releive pressure from that nerve in your hand

  • get a mate to video you on a camera phones as you ride - how you think you position yourself on a bike often differs from how you really position yourself on a bike. ride for a few minutes before videoing so you're relaxed and in your normal riding position

-- i might have used that phrase on a rather different kind of video shoot… --

  • Stef try swap shoulder and using padded gloves to releive pressure from that nerve in your hand

    +1 on the padded gloves

  • Crumplers always made me uncomfortable. Bought a Chrome bag for lugging stuff, only get any pains when I absolutely overload it with heavy stuff. Rucksacks do distribute the weight better all the same.
