You can quite easily skid whilst sitting to trim speed.
Just lock the legs and push them and the bike round to which ever side is most comfortable whilst pushing your upper body weight in the opposing direction.
Don't try in a gear greater than 46 x 16 (75ish) or you'll damage your knees.
