• That's not what tramps is saying.

There's just an appreciation for the purity and history of a frame. Hence why people buy NOS stuff and build a bike faithfully to a specific time, and why people try and stick only NJS stuff on a Keirin frame.

There's a lot of love for a real pedigree road bike too. Just like when people see a Keirin frame built up with US components (Phil hubs for examples) and then protest at the perceived sullying of such a pure thoroughbred, there will always be people who look at a gorgeous road frame (and we only feel this way because your frame is gorgeous) and in admiration wonder why it's not the original beast it was born to be (yes, born to be because it's a custom pedigree racing bike built for that purpose).

No-one is saying don't ride it. And no-one is saying it's inappropriate to do it. Hell most of my bikes are mongrels of multi-nationality and ages... but there is always going to be a love for the original purity of a machine, and if you're lucky enough to have a frame worthy of that love, you're also going to be lucky enough to have people lust over what they think it might once have been.
