Langster Ideal Size?

Hi all,

I'm about to buy a 2008 Langster, my local bike shop got one 56cm only. I'm 5ft74. The staff obviously said that the frame size's right for me.

I got on it and I was feeling quite comfortable but I haven't ride it.

Browsing different bike-fit-calculator websites, a 54 frame seems more appropriate.

Does anybody out there ride a langster? What height/frame size?

Thats because it's not 560mm by 560mm.

Seat-Tube Length, B-B Center to Top is 520mm
Top-Tube Length, Horizontal is 565mm.

Always best to ride it, before handing out the coin.

You need to ride it. A 54cm could be more appropriate.

I'd say a 52cm would be more suited to you, the best way to find the right size bike is through a sizing site like:

It looks like it's time consuming to do, but it takes less than 15 mins to do (small time investment before you part with your hard earned!).

Top tube length is equally as important as the seat tube length, you are only just shorter than me, I'd never consider buying anything bigger than a 54cm.

Do you have at least an inch/2.5 cms clearance between the bar and your bits?

Adjust seat to proper height (slight bend in knee with heel on pedal)

Sit on seat.

Can you reach the handlebars comfortably? (slight bend in elbows. If drops fit should be perfect on the hoods)

No? Different stem or frame.

The Langster is measured by a virtual top tube, it's compact sloping top tube so just standing over it will not give you the correct frame measurement.......

Measure your inseam and multiply it by 0.883, that will give you the exact seat height you need, on the bike it should be measured from the bottom bracket centre to the top of the seat.

Everybody has a different way to set a bike up, the measured way is the best as a starter for ten without spending any money.....
