  • Shallow Maive wow, urban junkies newsletter just told me I should go the lfgss party!

    SUNDAY
    LondonFGSS 1st Birthday
Only if your head's been stuck in the office sandpit should you have missed the masses of fixed gear and single speed bikes pulling tricks, playing polo, and generally having a giggle as they slalom their colour-coordinated way through the incessant traffic jams. Central to the subculture's community in London, the LondonFGSS website celebrates its first birthday with a slew of fixed-related shenanigans, plus DJs and a bar for those less cycular.
    Time: 7pm-2am
Place: The Slaughtered Lamb, 34-35 Great Sutton St, EC1V 0DX
    Cost: Free
    Info: londonfgss.com

Hehe. And I didn't say fixie.

  • Dannoleeed What kind of tunes you playing Sir?

VB pointed out his love for things noisy and six-stringed so lotsa snarlin' 60's punk and, er, snarlin' 70s punk... I don't get to play that stuff too much these days, when I play out (which isn't too often anymore) I generally get asked for the soul/funk/boogaloo/Hammond set... Hope you like! ;)

  • Shit you can add the Northern Soul stuff in there too you know.

  • velocity boy Shit you can add the Northern Soul stuff in there too you know.

OK, I'll mix it up then... :)

  • love northern soul, might even bring me dancing shoes :)

  • Smart; sounds good!
I will be playing all sorts of bollocks, including dub, hardcore (punk), gabba and brass band. Drunkenly with shoddy mixing.

I've got a Tascam you can borrow, pop over later if you wan'?

  • Cheers, but that's waaaay too complicated! Might just rip some records to mp3, whack 'em on a memory stick and borrow a mac on Saturday to make some cds that i can then drop, permanently scratch, leave unlabled, drop behind the monitors and then resort to an ipod and get Dale to do karaoke.

  • Nothin' scary, it's just a normal CD recorder... It's a cheapy studio machine so it'll burn onto any old cheap CDs...

  • ah, that sounds better than i'd feared (i'm regressing with technology as I age). Hoping to make west london drinks, so i'll be passing by yours at 9-10ish if that's ok? Does it need some sort of driver, or is it just a plug and play type thing?

Yeah that's cool... It basically works like a tape deck, lines in/out, press pause/record, bish bosh, no need for drivers...

  • stuart What's the rules, I dont have a fixed gear just yet , does that count against me ? that's a good pub you chosen!

You don't have to have a fixed gear bike now or ever. It's just that 99% of ppl here do (although many have a freewheel bike too). It is london Fixed gear AND SINGLE SPEED forum after all.

  • Right boys and girls, have a great time this weekend. Hopefully get myself down to some London events when the weather warms up a bit.

Looking forward to hearing all the gory details.

    Happy Easter
