  • Just picked up a San Marco Regal on t'Bay for the Mercian, the rails are really weird tho'... I popped down to BLB to see if they had a nice clean Campy aero seatpost for it and they said they'd never seen rails like it and I'd never get a clamp to fit!! Haven't had a chance to try it on my current seatpost yet, but any ideas? I've never seen rails like that either... Excuse crap phone pics... Cheers muchly, Joe

I've owned one of those I think (a Regal Girardi with copper rivets?). These rails were used in the mid-80s for a year or two. They should fit a Campagnolo (maybe Campag but never Campy this side of the pond!) aero seatpost without any trouble whatsoever. The flared part of the rails sits outside the clamp (if that makes sense?).

  • Yeah that's what it is, lovely saddle... Guess I'll just have to try and chuck it on tonight and see what happens... :/
BTW One of my American mates is a 'Campy' nut, I find it hard to stop saying it now... ;)

Any two part clamp should work with it - the top part of the clamp goes above the rails, the bottom part below and the flared rails stick out the sides. It really is that simple. They are nice saddles - how much did it cost? (I've seen them go for in excess of £100 on t'bay).

  • They were making saddles like this earlier than the 80's. My dad has something similar from the 50's/60s.

  • I stand (well sit actually) corrected. I've only ever seen them on a mid-80s Regal Girardi but I'm no connoisseur of saddles so deign to your superior knowledge.

T'was £13.50! Coupla little scuffs at the back but in pretty good shape, I was well chuffed... 'Til the whole rail bidness...
I figured it *should *work but the BLB guys were so adamant it wouldn't they put the shits up me... Hmmm, shoulda guessed... Wouldn't normally go there, it's miles away from me, but they do occasionally get nice second hand bits...

  • Once again BLB dazzle with their well rounded knowledge of bikes...
