Through the centre is not around the edge (where all the people live). There can be no water for a couple of hundred kays. You need to send stuff in advance to towns in order to pick it up. When I read one bag I got worried. He sounds like he has touring experience but central Australia needs special attention and I'd rather not hear about another tourist's demise due to ill preparation.
