SUV's were pushed by American car manufacturers because they realized high profit margins. They were highly successful just so long as gas prices were low. In Chaicago gas is now over $3.00 and people are switching as rapidly as they can back to cars.
My father who is a game warden needs a landrover to drive off road. Game warden's have a lovely life but they earn fuck all. He is telling me that he has to pay something like £500 in extra tax because his only car is a 4x4. My Dad ain't got money like that to throw about.
