Yes, I already asked in the stolen bikes thread if Chris could collate info on what locks are being broken so you could have an idea if its the lock that are being targetted rather than just nice bikes.

I think we need to start looking at the real issue here, and thats demand. Somewhere there are people buying very specific, niche bike parts on the stolen black market.
This is either being done to order or people are nicking bikes and using the parts to build other rides to sell to a booming market.
Two years ago these scum would have been targeting mountain bikes, and now the scene has become so big and fashionable they have switched to fixes and s/s's.
Where are the bikes and parts being sold if they are not on ebay/gumtree or bricklane market??

could be a number of places, even ebay.de,fr,es maybe even velodrome jumble days around Manchester, Newport etc. def a lot of money to be made especially of you as organised and equipped like the guys in the vans hitting the George etc.

spot on larryred.....how many people on this forum? 1000+ I imagine this must be a significant portion of the market for fixed wheel bikes in london (or not?) .... so lets just make sure that no one here buys any of that shit. it should be promoted as a key aspect of the london "fixed gear subculture" (if i may)..... don't buy anything you don't know where it comes from.
