  • grey condor pista locked up outside the crown and anchor on drummond st. today at about 6.
    anyone on here?
    that's right near my flat.

  • Spotted in the nick of time - little shit on a stolen pizza delivery moped at the bottom of broadway market who jumped the junction without even touching the brakes. leading me to slam them on and clip the back of the pizza box with my front wheel = falling over in really slow motion. Thanks to the nice cyclist who stopped to check i was ok xxx

I work in old Pru building 250 Euston Rd and there's always a Holdsworth conversion locked outside Sainsburys under Euston Tower and loads of random fixed/SS on the 'hoops' outside the hospital. I'm in the underground, swipe card activated, security guard patrolled car-park feeling a bit smug.

Anyway saw a white Vivalo with red Sugino hardware, yellow Selle Rolls and the Cosmic Carbone front wheel @ Mount Pleasant that I saw outside Cavendish a couple of months back

  • Teenslain! In my office for the briefest of moments. Nice to put a face to repeated whispers.

    shit...thats a bit mad!

  • aidan shit...thats a bit mad!

Yeah it was. Im assuming it was nicked 'cos he was pushing it as hard as a pizza moped would go and he had no helmet and the pizza box was flapping open.

Think he saw me, reckon he could make it so just tried, forgetting he was on pizza moped and i was going way faster, he obviously didnt give a shit tho.

  • that sucks rr your alight thou right?

  • if he had actually stolen it then i would be a surprise if he was to consider anyone on the road or the laws of the road for that matter....what a tit!

  • Yeah it was real slow motion fall. cheers!

  • ...he wont be eating a pizza again thats for sure.

  • You know why these falls are always 'slow motion', it's because the brain goes into freak out mode in an accident and generates a second memory of the event, so looking back, even a split second later, because there's more for the brain to recall, the event seems to have taken ages. I think. I was hit by a car last night and came off. Same thing. I'm going thru it in my mind now and thinking i had about 5 seconds to get out of the way, like the steamroller victim in the Austin Powers film. I digress.

might be my holdsworth. aint had it very long though. it's massive (60cm) with an old, battered metallic silver paint job.
think i've seen another though (was it red?)

  • Evening everyone, first time post here!

Anyone on here ride a surly steamroller in the Welwyn Garden on here? Dont see many fixies round this way!

  • saw vic on bethnal green road near brick lane today, was in the car doing a 3 point turn blocking your path. i think you thought me beeping the horn was something other than a hello. oops.

  • Black frame, orange deep vs, passed me going down archway.
disc brakes i noticed - does this entail a special hub/forks?

    Yes it does

  • would be nice though - i nearly got mullered on the way home last night just cos canti breaks don't really stop you in the wet... looks like an expensive job getting everything swapped out though...

Hah! Sorry xsheepx dude, I was feeling quite grumpy with drivers and then I was trying all night to work out who it was beeping and waving at me (I was quite perplexed). Apologies for the dagger stare! I didn't think you could drive? Or were you with Mark?

  • mongrel would be nice though - i nearly got mullered on the way home last night just cos canti breaks don't really stop you in the wet... looks like an expensive job getting everything swapped out though...

Not as expensive as it used to be. I had a Cannondale Delta V fitted with first generation Hope hydraulic discs nearly ten years ago. That cost nearly GBP800...

  • trawling the internet for forks now...

Woo hoo. That was me, my first ever spot.

Hi Mongrel, I am an unsociable bastard in the morning, sorry I didn't say hello. I had a quick look at you as I went by and you were looking straight ahead. You were wearing a brown hat, on a silver Pista yes? If I see you again I will say hello.

The forks have a right forward disc mount. They came with the frame which is a Cotic Road Rat. I have a Hope pro II disc hub on the front wheel and a hope mini disc brake. Its pretty unconventional, but the stopping power really is awesome. It stops almost as quickly in the wet as it does on dry.

Is that your normal route in the mornings? I come down from East finchley

Read up sheldons tips on setting up cant brakes. With some good pads cants should works very well even in the wet. If you still don't find that enough try v-brakes. Disk brakes on a unloaded road bike are unnecessary. A nice bit of fun but not needed.
