  • Does anyone know if the Langster and Sirrus are the same frame with different bits on? I'm not looking to buy either for me but a friend wants a nice commuter bike. He had a Sirrus which was stolen - from outside Starbucks, I kid you not! He's asked me to look out another one for him. I've seen '07 Sirrus for £300 in evans. Also an '08 Sirrus on eBay for £300. Just wondering if I could put him one together for cheaper. He's got £250-£300 to spend if anyone knows of anything!? I know he could just buy straight from Evans but then I don't get my finders fee ;)

  • I would presume that at least the drop outs will be different and the langster's bb will be higher

  • Wolfenger ... I'm not looking to buy either for me but a friend ...

    A likely story

  • Hi Anthony

    Nope, the frames are completly different. Have a look at the Specialized site at the two models. As well as the tubing being a different design (a curved top tube on the Sirrus for example) the geometry is all different.

  • two very different frames;

    Langster

    Sirrus

    There the same tubing but if you want to be geeky about it, the Langster has a track geometry with a higher BB shell and steeper head tube angles, a 2.5 cm shorter wheel base ;)

  • I'm pretty sure the allez and the langster are identical in geometry.

    lol

    No...really! I sold him his last one! Plonka left it outside Starbucks with one of those really thin wire padlocks.
    Thanks for the info.

    the langster had compact geomerty, not track geo

  • yeah

  • Nice that you charge your 'friend' a finders fee too...

    You know how it is. He's a lazy feck and I do all the work. ;)

    the langster had compact geomerty, not track geo[/quote]lol kinda splitting hairs there chris, no? its not the most aggressive geometry but its still got steeper angles and a higher BB shell. My 05 langster has almost 2° steeper head-tube and seat-tube with 13mm less fork rake. :P you track Nazi!

  • the older ones had track geo, the new ones have a backwards top tube.
